You're thinking it might be more about the motherboard than an SSD issue, but you could try reseating the CPU. How is the SSD connected—using a standoff? Have you updated the BIOS? Once fixed, reinstall Windows as you've changed the CPU.

I’ve got the latest BIOS update, and I’m wondering if this could be a MOBO problem too—since USBs aren’t working and the M.2 slot seems to be stuck. The SSD just slips into a port and gets fixed with a screw.

Yes, it leans inwards or rests horizontally on a stand.

Okay, absolutely add that standoff in, but the drive, if badly bent could be done for, but its not a guarantee, do you have another computer to test it on, school, work (both provided they let you), a friend or family member etc?

I don’t have another method to check the drive, unfortunately, and we’re all using consoles, which makes it tough to pinpoint the problem.

Consider a standoff for the drive or a replacement if needed. Your motherboard likely came with standoffs, but you can probably find them cheaply on sites like eBay. The inconvenience of not being able to test it is frustrating.

I’ve owned this motherboard since around 2021 or 2020, and I bought it used in an existing PC. Given its age, it’s likely still functional, though it may be running on older software. The PC I purchased was a prebuilt with a 970 Ryzen 5 2600, and over time I added more components gradually. Eventually, I upgraded it by selling my Switch and other gear to afford the necessary parts, but unfortunately ran out of space for a new board. I’m hoping to secure one soon so the situation can improve.

It’s possible you’ll need to accumulate some savings and maybe a replacement drive as well. You might consider slightly loosening the screw so it isn’t overly tight without a standoff for now.

I’m facing the money problem (?) but with PCs it’s usually about something else... it looks like you installed the SSD incorrectly, maybe... (nobody really understands). You have a few choices: reset the CMOS, bring back the motherboard slot, or go back to a new SATA SSD instead of the possibly damaged one. (I’d actually try this, a 250GB drive costs around $20) If it still doesn’t work and you need USB, reset the CMOS unless the board is badly damaged, which might fix it.
