The Nightmare PC.
Hey everyone! My upgrade journey turned into a really frustrating ordeal. I was using a 2060 processor, Ryzen 7 1700, B350M-A, a 3600 Corsair 16GB RAM, and a 750W power supply. After switching to a Ryzen 7 5800X and RX 6700XT, everything else stayed the same. I removed the old Nvidia drivers and installed the new AMD ones. At first, it worked smoothly—pushing over 900 FPS—and I even tried different games like BDO, Warzone, and Palworld. But once I capped the performance for my monitor, things slowed down to around 20 FPS. I adjusted settings and settings everything, but nothing improved. Then I suspected the GPU was faulty, so I reinstalled it. After that, the situation got worse. My BIOS wouldn’t boot Windows anymore; I noticed my M2 chip was missing, so I tried resetting it. I didn’t back up anything and ended up with a Linux installation from about a year ago. I figured Linux couldn’t run virtual USB, so it wouldn’t work on my PC either. I don’t have the funds for a new motherboard or SSD, and there’s no way to get Windows back. I’m starting to give up and consider selling the PC. I’ve asked for help everywhere, but no one seems to know what to do. If I could manage it, I’d just replace the parts and move on—but right now, I really need assistance. This has been an incredibly stressful day, and I’m feeling pretty overwhelmed.
Wow... I run a custom PC business and I’ve dealt with computers that had problems like this, though they weren’t as severe. I’m sorry this has been tough for you. Keep in mind there’s a possibility I might not be able to assist.
I used DDU and verified everything, so I’m fairly confident. It seems the SSD is damaged but it’s rebooting unexpectedly. Also, I can’t boot into Windows at all now—I have to sell the SSD issue first. It’s odd that no USB works on my motherboard; can we find the solution?
No, I didn't run DDU in safe mode or any other specific setting.
