I ordered the computer beforehand to avoid too many cables, but the one you mentioned isn’t functioning properly.
So let's clarify this. The connector on the cable from the CPU cooler matches the same power connector used for mechanical hard drives or SATA drives to supply power to storage devices. The cooler brand reuses this connector since computers often have multiple SATA power connectors, accommodating different drives.
On the female side of the SATA power connector are the power supplies. They have a corresponding male version with pins or contacts that fit into other connectors—this is usually referred to as the MALE side.
If you own a preordered computer, things can get tricky. You might have a custom power supply with unique connectors or a standard ATX unit. With a standard ATX power supply, check the cables from the case to various parts: expect at least a 24-pin cable for the motherboard and either a 4-pin or 8-pin cable near the processor socket.
If the power supply isn’t modular, you’ll see several cables exiting it, possibly hidden under its casing. For a SATA drive, inspect the hard drive’s back panel—there should be multiple SATA connectors in a chain leading to the power supply.
Proprietary power supplies may or may not include SATA connectors at the end. The motherboard could have its own special connector for SATA drives, which might already have a cable connected if it’s preinstalled.
