This seems reasonable. It's unclear when my public IP last updated, and I've paused Hulu temporarily. I might restart it later to check for changes.

My work with VPNs for bypassing geo-restrictions has revealed some key points. Streaming apps embedded in smart TVs can change DNS settings for the app and expose your location, meaning router configurations won't help. Even if you set Cloudflare, Google, or Quad9 DNS at your router, it won't work. The solution I found was to use a separate device like the Fire Stick to run both the streaming app and the VPN simultaneously. Regarding ISP gateways, if they let Hulu through in normal mode rather than bridge mode, switching your router to AP mode might be enough. This will provide basic protection without all the advanced firewall features.

Thanks in advance! I found the details helpful and will consider trying it out soon. By the way, I also use Private Internet Access on my FireStick. Interestingly, it functions smoothly with HBO Max but not with Hulu—seems like Funimation only works on the former.

Some VPNs get blacklisted quickly by streaming services. If PIA has the ability to use different locations within a country or dedicated servers, I'd give those a try. If you want test ExpressVPN, they have a 30-day money back guarantee if you're not satisfied.
