The new GPU caused an Ethernet failure.
I changed the GPU and am now using my Intel integrated graphics card HD 4000. Oddly enough, my internet connection stopped working. I've tried various cables, ports, reinstalled RAM, updated Windows, reached out to customer support, updated drivers, but nothing helped. Apparently, a new GPU can cause this problem, but I'm stuck.
A phrase indicating something has stopped functioning properly or is no longer effective.
Never believe anyone promising to be Microsoft Customer Support. Particularly if they're an Indian person on the other end. This isn't about racism—it's simply a common warning. Many of these fraudsters come from India or regions like Pakistan in the Middle East.
I think he thought you were called BY Microsoft support, not that you called them. The later is fine, its the first that is concerning. As for your issue, your gpu did not break your Ethernet adaptor. Try basic troubleshooting. Open network settings and check and see if the adaptor shows up, if its disabled, re-enable it. If it shows up and says its enabled, disable and re-enable. Try getting the drivers for your Ethernet adaptor on another pc and install via usb. Unplug, plug back in. Restart your router/modem. etc
The Windows troubleshooter usually doesn't solve problems effectively and tends to lead users down unproductive paths. While it can appear to resolve issues, it often provides little value when the real problem exists.
Access the network adapter controls, select "Show Disabled Devices," and take a screenshot. Which motherboard model are you using?
Well... it depends on the source of that figure. If it comes from here: https://support.microsoft.com/en-ca/help/13948, then everything seems okay. Just remember PC Optimizer Pro doesn’t have to reach out for help.
