I understand piracy is a global issue, yet many PC specs are unnecessarily raised to cover extra, unwanted resources as part of supposed game needs. The biggest issue is that technology can’t be turned off like ray tracing, which is optional. When I buy something, I want it to work smoothly on my system without hidden fees or extra software slowing things down. DRM/Denuvo, DLSS instead of real optimization, lots of inclusivity claims, Unreal Engine 5 causing stutters, releasing incomplete games only to fix them later—all for big money. Will modern gaming ever be better?
Clear up: Stop purchasing these games. When enough people do, they’ll vanish. In the end, companies like Ubisoft and EA don’t prioritize inclusivity or performance metrics—they focus on profit. If consumers stop buying, they’ll need to create products that match what people want to stay competitive and profitable.
We can stop here. The EU offers all the optimization tools developers need. The issue lies in whether developers actually use them. Also, you require skilled software engineers, which is more expensive than standard UE script modelers. That’s why some firms might choose default settings optimization.
Agreed. No one complains about Split Fiction's 'optimization'. I strongly dislike DRM, but I'm not sure Denuvo really hurts performance. There are tests showing both effects, though they're all flawed. We're looking at games with Denuvo 'hacked' versus those without, or games with other changes during the same update. We really don't have solid direct comparisons for this.
It looks like this game's potential for huge success is very low, possibly near zero. With such a poor reception and recent failures, it seems destined for disaster. The situation is worsened by the bad publicity surrounding it, and after a string of disappointments, things are looking grim. AC Shadows still needs to recover from the losses caused by Star Wars Outlaws, their most recent flop.
Agreed. I have a feeling it's genuinely not going to be that great, but even if it does end up decent, I think it's already tarnished to the point that it's doomed, essentially becoming a meme already.
They must create something extraordinary to save the company. So far, it seems like they’ll end up with a typical 7/10 AAA title. That won’t be enough. When was the last time Ubisoft delivered a true masterpiece? And how many of these developers remain active? It’s been a while, and it looks like most of the original AC Shadows team has moved on to other projects.
It's disappointing. Back in the day, Ubi was one of my top developers—especially from Montreal—and I still saw myself as a fan even though public sentiment had shifted. Now it's tough to justify their current standing.
Denuvo is not great, but the game hasn't been released yet. We haven't had a chance to run benchmarks on it. The system specs might look reasonable, but those minimum requirements are just a joke at 30fps.
