I'm facing a problem where the mouse doesn't work properly no matter which mouse I use. It works okay for everyday tasks but sometimes fails during games like Chivalry 2, Deep Rock Galactic, and Fortnite. When playing these, it won't release clicks or might refuse to respond entirely. Pressing keys on the keyboard sometimes helps. The issue seems to occur roughly every couple of minutes. I've tried changing ports, reinstalling drivers, updating BIOS, and even updated the device software, but nothing seems to fix it. My system runs Windows 11 64-bit with the latest updates. I'm using a high-end setup including an RTX 4090, SSDs, and a gaming PC. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
OP has experimented with various mice, but the issue persists, suggesting it's not the mouse itself but possibly a broader system concern. I've encountered similar issues with high polling rate mice in past games, which resolved by reducing the polling rate. This approach may not apply if the problem occurs with a less expensive device that doesn't support high polling. Updating the chipset and USB drivers would be a viable next step. Check for background software and close any unnecessary programs just in case.
What speed are your RAMs running at? I've had problems with strange input delays before and thought unstable RAM might be the cause. You might want to turn off XMP settings and test with auto speeds—see if the lag disappears. If not, the issue could be with your memory itself. Once confirmed, you can adjust manually to fix it. First, try auto mode, then disable any overclocking if enabled.
Would you like to try a different device for testing? Share your profiles across all programs that might influence your mouse or peripherals. Begin with basic Windows apps, gradually introducing additional software, checking performance, then re-importing profiles and repeating the process. Look for any software or import that causes lag.
I don't believe the mouse is the issue. The same problem occurs with four different mice.
