I'm familiar with many users who have processors much less powerful than the 6600K yet still function well.
It gave really good performance. An i5 2500K running at 4.2GHz with XFX R7950 at 1070Mhz coreclock. 8GB RAM on ultra 1080p, around 50 FPS, render scale set to 50%. At 100% render scale everything is sharp, though low settings give 70-ish. Prefer keeping low for smooth gameplay, but high render scale makes it crisp. Perfect for sniping.
I'm testing on an i5 2500K at 4.6 GHz, paired with a GTX 1070. All settings are at their highest, running at 1920x1200. I'm consistently seeing around 62 FPS with v-sync enabled and noticeably better with v-sync off. My monitor's refresh rate is the limiting factor, giving me max FPS. The resolution scale remains at its default of 42%. It might be worth checking that setting next.
I’ve played BF1 late into the night for hours. My setup is a 3570K at 4.5ghz, running it in DX12 with ultra enabled. My FPS ranged from the low 70s to mid 80s on a GTX 970, peaking around 100 fps. DX12 typically drops about 2-3 fps. In my view, someone who handles BF4 well shouldn’t struggle with BF1. A few friends using GTX 980s and 980Ti achieved 120fps at 1080p ultra settings.
Essentially, I achieved more than 100 frames per second at 1080p using the auto video settings.
