I’m just getting started with PC gaming, but my first machine was less than a month old and I began playing metro games via Xbox Game Pass on my PC. I started with 2033 and could play for about an hour or two before the system would crash, forcing me to restart. Once I finished, I moved on to the next game and faced the same issue. After beating it, I tried 3/4 of the way through and decided to investigate the problem. I updated my GPU drivers and chipset drivers, even downloading DDu for a clean install. Now I’m unable to reach the loading screen, let alone the main menu—it freezes and requires a restart. I’ve tried Exodus, Gears 4 & 5, Final Fantasy 14, 3DMark, Unigine Heaven and Valley at full settings, but Metro Last Light Redux still crashes on startup. Others say Physx enabled was the culprit, though I initially had it on despite not realizing it affected performance. I’ve reinstalled the game twice on both my hard drive and SSD. Anyone know what might be causing this? It’s really frustrating.

Specs: Ryzen 7 3700X, 4.2GHz, 1.225V, 76GB RAM, ASRock X570 Pro 4GB, RX 5700 XT Red Devil, stock 68GB, G.Skill 32GB, 3600MB RAM, CMI 850 Gold, PSU 1TB, Seagate 2TB HDD.

I also faced the same issue with Metro 2033 and eventually gave up. I wish I could assist, but it clearly has major problems compared to what others have shared online.

Yes, you can start the game after enabling debug mode in the Nvidia control panel. Be aware that your overclock might not be compatible with this game.

That's a great observation. Sometimes what seems like a solid overclock isn't reliable, and certain games might be more affected than others. Regarding "debug mode," it typically helps identify and fix software issues during development.

This feature will prevent the overclock while keeping your GPU software configurations unchanged, helping us determine if a high-speed setting was the cause of problems.

Even with factory overclocking? Because otherwise you could simply turn off your Overheat settings in Afterburner or similar tools. However, completely shutting down a factory overclock isn't really possible without spending a lot of time tweaking the right parameters in software, and I doubt it would ever be feasible to get precise "stock" boost clock readings.

It won't modify the factory default configurations... only the adjustments the user made remain (potentially many that might be hard to turn off or remember).

It's clear you've noticed some problems with this setup. Personally, I stick to AB mode and always reset it. Disabling factory overclocks would likely need a change in the BIOS settings.
