It disables the factory overclock and configures the card to use Nvidia reference clock speeds.
They're definitely necromancers, bringing back a discussion that's been around for five months. Clearing the opening was one of those solutions.
Base and boost clocks define what Nvidia claims a GPU can achieve. They don’t reflect the actual performance of the cards. For instance, the boost clock of a 1080 Ti is 1670mhzs. I believe both of us would be disappointed if our cards were limited to that. This is evident on my EVGA 1080 Ti SC2. As you can see with debug mode enabled, I’m near your specifications, but my card increases when it does. I suspect there’s a problem with your card. Op has an AMD chip, so it doesn’t support debug mode.
Sure, I understand. I was dealing with crashes and thought my card might have a problem with OC. That’s how I discovered the debug mode option—I’m not sure if I was being too eager, but now I’m getting a stable 2.0 GHz in all games. Do you think that’s sufficient for your Zotac 1080TI Amp Extreme? Also, I completely overlooked the fact that the original poster uses an AMD card. What alternatives to debug mode would you suggest?
I purchased a Gigabyte GTX 1080 Xtreme and that's how I learned about debug mod. It was a bit too extreme. It made me hesitant about buying anything that's very intense. If you're not experiencing crashes, you're probably fine.
I've experienced some hiccups with Last Light as well. Disappointing, since it's a solid title. I played it on PS4 without major problems, though the performance was noticeably lower in frame rate. Switching to a newer system makes it even more frustrating because of the noticeable lag and visual differences. It's not that the game itself is bad, but the experience feels compromised. I'm just sorry for the inconvenience.
