The laptop cooler moves unexpectedly, climbing higher than expected.
My laptop is acting odd, the cooling fan speed rises steadily even when I'm not using much load or heat. It runs an Asus TUF Dash F15 i7 with an RTX 3070 at 85 watts, 16GB RAM (two 8GB modules), 3200Mhz RAM, and a 512GB NVMe SSD. The fan noise increases noticeably after about five minutes of light tasks like YouTube or spreadsheets. To fix it, I change the power profile every five minutes, bringing the fan back down to near zero RPM. No matter whether I switch between Turbo and Eco settings or vice versa, the fan drops again shortly after. Temperatures are acceptable, but the RPM fluctuations persist. I've tried replacing the thermal paste and adjusting the pads, even suspecting a failing VRM, but it didn't help. I also replaced the stock thermal paste and cleaned the heat pads, thinking a VRM might be overheating. The issue remains unresolved. Switching the GPU to an iGPU or vice versa didn't help. My BIOS and Windows are up to date, though I encountered problems with the original OEM install. No manual fan control options exist; even after a fresh Windows install and installing Armoury Crate, the problem persists. I've tried everything and still can't find a solution. Thanks for your help!
You should be able to choose Manual next to Turbo, allowing you to adjust fan curves for CPU and GPU along with power settings. Consider verifying the connection, switching GPU modes, or updating/downgrading Armoury Crate.
I also faced the same issue, but it resolved on hp.it after updating the drivers and software.
