Hello, everyone. I recently relocated and had to change my ISP. Previously, I used xFinity which worked well, but now I’m in a more remote area and need to switch to Midco. I purchased a more affordable used modem to pair with xFinity and only required speeds between 100-300 Mbps. That’s why I bought a Netgear CM500. Midco states that my model isn’t listed as compatible, which is confusing. Here’s their approved list: https://www.midco.com/support/internet/m...ed-modems/. My main concern is whether calling my CM1000 modem compatible would actually cause issues. Thanks for your help!

The modem meets DOCSIS 3.0 standards, but Midco seems unreasonable.

I'm not confident about this approach, but Xfinity identifies your modem model, so Midco should be able to handle it too. As another person suggested, give it a try and, in the worst case, purchase one from their approved selection.

They aim to install firmware on the modem and potentially damage it. They’re aware of all devices on the network. Purchase the CM1000 for durability and access to numerous free and paid speed boosts.

If it becomes unavailable, the CM1000 remains a solid choice for a modem regardless of brand. It offers reliable performance and is widely supported. Consider other models if you need specific features or better compatibility.

Obtain whatever service provider is available. All D3.1 models should work.

My router functions properly with Midco; they simply appended the MAC address as any other provider would.

The issue arises when they choose to move to DOCSIS 3.1, causing your modem to stop functioning and potentially leaving them unaware of the need for it.
