Which Wi-Fi adapter are you employing? I tried an older adapter I found around 2010 (TP-Link TL-WN822N v2); it works with hosted networks after applying the Windows update and installing the Atheros driver. Make sure the adapter appears correctly in Device Manager, and the right driver is installed.

They're not useful in practice anymore, and newer options like Windows hotspot don't rely on that specific feature.

You can try using a VPN client on your PC and then connect the roku via Wi-Fi, which will handle the VPN connection automatically. This avoids needing special setup steps for each device.

Enable the mobile hotspot feature and establish a connection. You must adjust the shared network type manually because the default shares your direct connection, not a VPN—this behavior remains consistent in an ad-hoc network setup.

After turning on the mobile hotspot, the system establishes a local area connection. I navigate to the PIA network adapter settings, select the local area connection option, and the device connects. However, the internet remains unavailable.

Yes, that approach worked before. Did you just confirm the adapter selection toggle was enabled?

It functions properly, though I doubt the Roku receives an IP address.

Consider using a different device, such as a mobile phone.
