The graphics card GTX 1660 is overheating significantly when playing The Witcher 3 at its highest settings.
My graphics card temperature rises from 77 degrees Celsius to 87-90 degrees Celsius after approximately ten minutes of gaming. Is this typical, and what should I be monitoring?
Could you please tell me the current temperature of your surroundings?
Is vertical synchronization turned on?
I would recommend aiming to maintain the graphics card’s temperature below 83 degrees Celsius in order to prevent performance limitations due to overheating.
The temperature is currently around 27 degrees Celsius outdoors and 29 degrees Celsius indoors. I've observed that the game consistently runs at a fixed frame rate of 60fps, which is determined by the maximum setting available in The Witcher 3. Vsync is enabled. Even when I’m simply browsing the web while having Steam and Discord running, my temperatures reach 54 degrees Celsius with 100% fan speed activated.
So yea, 29C is pretty warm. If the system is messy then you may want to clean up some of the cables to improve airflow or at the very least run the system (while gaming) with the side cover off. This would improve temps but you would need to clean it out more often as there would be more dust buildup.
Configure a personalized cooling profile in MSI Afterburner, targeting 75 degrees Celsius at full load.

My computer utilizes a matching MSI Gaming X graphics card, which does generate considerable heat. This is partially due to my CPU overclocking and also because the case temperature rises, exacerbated by summer’s heat and limited airflow within my enclosure. I suggest monitoring both your graphics card and central processing unit temperatures concurrently.
ok so i have config the custom fan curve and take the front cover off. When im in the game it goes as high as 87c but as soon as i open the map by pressing M the temperature quickly drop to 67c. Is this normal?
My central processing unit maintains a temperature of 61 degrees Celsius, and I am not modifying any performance settings.
