I'm using a laptop with 16GB RAM, an i7-4750hq processor and a GTX950M graphics card. I purchased the game in version 2.3, which worked well without any adjustments and gave me around 20 frames per second at high settings. On low settings at 1080p, it maintained about 20 FPS. The graphical settings didn’t seem to affect performance. However, I’ve noticed frequent crashes every 10 minutes, sometimes taking about 4 minutes for the game to load. At least it didn’t crash constantly before. Some of you are experiencing similar problems? Most crashes fail to report properly. I’m really frustrated and feel like filing a refund since I’m still bound by old terms and conditions. I’ve spent $140 on this game, which is a significant amount for someone with student loans. On version 2.3 it ran smoothly without optimization, but now in 2.4 it still works, though it keeps crashing repeatedly.
The game's design naturally focuses on performance, which often shifts with each patch. Expect changes in how smooth it runs next month, as the developers are updating the ship parts system. Right now, the game isn't fully polished, so its speed may vary further. I recommend staying patient and observing updates as the project continues.
I'm pretty sure a few of our gatherings were canceled, and folks switched to BF4 during version 2.3 because of performance problems.
Address any issues immediately. Reset everything right away. If it fails, restart again. For urgent matters, just delete and try. Noise can be a problem—remove it. This may not always succeed, but persistence helps.
The dog was unwell but is now healthy. The Star Citizen crashes issue remains unresolved.
Another choice exists. You might kneel down and ask for help from Chris Roberts, hoping he can grant your computer a chance to run Star Citizen Alpha 2.4 without crashing. I’m skeptical though—I’ve seen some occasional crashes, but not as severe as the 2.3 rate I experienced during my playtime. If you must, try tweaking or updating the user.cfg file; sometimes that helps. Still, patience is the best path since the developers plan monthly updates and it’s pointless to release an alpha when players can’t report anything beyond crashes.
