I don't want to just unload on you about how this is an alpha but really REALLY think about what an alpha means. The general idea is that its going to crash, and wanting a refund based on the performance of a game not even in beta is... well its silly. I mean you CAN, but whats the point, you are probably just going to pick it up later for the same reason you picked it up in the first place. If you don't like the experience you are getting now solely based on the fact that you are crashing during a totally and very openly unfinished game just wait till its in beta, or until release.
I understand it's alpha and that it's meant to crash. But what's the purpose of an alpha? Testing is tough—how can you test something that doesn't function? I've adjusted configurations and managed a few crashes, but getting a crash every ten minutes is really frustrating. It's unbearable. I'm planning to quit the game around 2:27. Once Stanton system is added and all mechanics are fixed, I hope it works smoothly before expanding further.
remember they advise against altering the configuration files, since doing so may lead to communication issues between the client and server
You know you're dealing with a lot of debugging code to fix those crashes, don't you? Make sure the crash handler that asked for a report after your first crash is set up to send it automatically—this way you won’t have to worry and can help improve the game. If unsure, it’s usually best to point the blame at Microsoft. I faced serious problems with 0.8 before, had to reinstall due to a minor driver issue, but then everything worked smoothly afterward. You could also take advantage of Windows 10’s free upgrade if you haven’t done so already and perform a clean install.
Other games function properly :'( The crash handler fails about half the time, possibly more.)
Also, could CIG return the previous skybox? (spacebox?) The updated version feels really bad... It seems like someone accidentally threw stars everywhere in the skybox...
They usually overlook custom configurations during debugging. I've experienced crashes from using an outdated BIOS version, even though everything else functioned fine. Recently, Nvidia released drivers that caused problems. To figure out the issue, tell me your system details—what version of your PC is running, what mode it's in, what devices are connected, and which antivirus software you're using. Are you adjusting performance settings? Could this be related to overclocking? We aim to assist constructively, share fixes with the support team if needed, and ensure the game runs smoothly for most players. Usually, a small group can collaborate, and most servers perform adequately despite occasional crashes or low FPS. Pictures before and after haven't shown any change.
I opted for a custom configuration because the game kept crashing even without one. So I disabled boom and Mouton blur. Initially, I assumed the issue occurred during visually demanding tasks like explosions. I tried turning off all graphics-heavy options such as motion blur and bloom, but it didn’t help. Now I’m performing a clean install of the NVIDIA drivers and will update you if it improves things. I’ll also gather screenshots before and after.
