Adjusts texture quality for smoother performance, sacrificing minor visual fidelity. Open the profile file in WordPad and use the find function to locate "disable". Modify the values inside quotes to "1" instead of "0". Reset the settings to disable loading mipmaps and GPU buffering. Update the relevant parameters accordingly. Save changes and test the game for improved stability. Avoid saving as a read-only file to prevent crashes. Review the guide on graphics performance for further tips.

Now do you have a cure for the epic mouse lag that was in FC3 and is now in this one too. ( I heard they bypassed DirectX with the mouse input so there is an inherent delay .) That's my bugbear with FC3 and FC4.

Unfortunately this game appears to require using a controller. No solution I've discovered. There are options available, but others claim it doesn't matter. I don't seem to be experiencing much of an issue. I'm using mouse acceleration and I'm unsure. Perhaps my G500 configuration is the cause. It's still functioning, though not ideal for aiming. Maybe Ubisoft will address this later. The fix I shared should resolve it quickly—just change a couple of settings.

I'll check that out. I've already experimented with the .xml for the FOV—after the patch it's just a slider, which isn't very informative.

It would have been better if more folks didn’t purchase the game. You’re just one individual who supported Ubisoft in continuing their approach of prioritizing gaming over other considerations.

Wow, it seems like you're really excited about getting the game just to see how it works.

The buffered frames didn't respond when I adjusted it from 1 to 5. I won't test the MIPS now. I'll come back later. Note: FML - Patch has erased my saves, making me face all those cinematic issues again. I'll report the MIP settings once I can check in-game (about 15 minutes).

He purchased it for me, his 780ti was acting up a lot. He's quite affluent and enjoys the Far Cry series. He designed the machine himself, so I worked on fixing it. I spent hours at his place trying to resolve the issue. Eventually, I contacted him from my PC and he was thrilled. The game runs fine now. Honestly, I didn’t ask him, and I’m not among the most dedicated Far Cry 4 fans. His main concern was why his 780ti couldn’t handle 1080p resolution. I stayed for a while to help, and he was very pleased. I believe the fix was successful. I haven’t contributed any money to Ubisoft, especially since they seem to have issues with their own games—like corrupting their ini files. I stopped my Watch Dogs order and didn’t even consider AC Unity, wondering if fixing the xml could help. I think Ubisoft isn’t deserving support right now, but I just wanted to ensure people could enjoy the game they paid for. Some fans are passionate about games, and Far Cry would fit that niche. I’m thinking about buying Dragon’s Age soon. I’ve already bought the CE edition of ME3 (which was disappointing), S.T.A.R. Online (maybe a fix exists there), and the last DLC—which was also not great). I’m still debating whether to buy it, but I’ve read many reviews. Angry Joe rates it highly, and I hope Bioware/EA improves. I don’t hate Ubisoft; I just want them to perform better on PC. I completely understand if you won’t buy it, and I wish Ubisoft would get better. Considering all the reports of dark screen problems, it seems likely many are pirating the game. That might finally make them reconsider.

Beyond the fact that FARCRY is an epic series, people stick with it regardless of who makes or publishes it. This loyalty comes from fans, not just Ubisoft. If another Ubisoft title were released, interest would likely fade. The real drive here is player commitment, not company reputation. Cinematics are nearing completion; I’ll mention DisableMIPS = 1’s impact on stutter later. Also, I tweaked x16 Anisotropic filtering in AMD CCC—results look sharper overall.

It would help a lot if you ran FRAPs and performed a few benchmark tests to measure frame times. The stuttering would appear as frames with high latency. You could then create a graph comparing the old and new versions, highlighting the improvements in frame time.
