I have a Predator Helios 300 I7 10750H with RTX 2060 and 16 GB of RAM running Windows 10 64 Bit. I see 120+ FPS in PUBG and 200+ in Valorant, but my FPS drops to 30-45 when I switch off Turbo mode. It only improves when I turn it back on. Even with Turbo enabled, the FPS only rises briefly. Someone, can you explain why this is happening and how to fix it? Thanks!
Several high-end laptops featuring Intel processors face power management issues. They often overheat and experience thermal throttling. Consider bringing them back to the retailer and requesting a repair or a refund. Manufacturers sometimes release faulty products due to low consumer feedback. If returns are no longer an option, try using ThrottleStop 9.3 at https://www.techpowerup.com/download/tec...ottlestop/. This tool offers several options to help with some poorly built gaming laptops. The 10750H processor is quite capable, but many makers limit its performance so it can’t run at full speed continuously. It may switch abruptly between high and low performance, causing unstable frame rates. In the ThrottleStop settings, enable Nvidia GPU monitoring. On the main interface, activate the Log File feature. Play a game for at least 15 minutes. After testing, close the game and exit ThrottleStop to save your log data. Share a log file with your next post and include screenshots of the ThrottleStop dashboard, FIVR window, and TPL interface. This documentation will help identify the causes of throttling and assess your laptop’s condition.
I purchased this laptop just a month ago and it's still covered under warranty. I came across an article mentioning similar issues after updating the GeForce drivers, especially with my I5 processor and RTX 2060. After some research, I realized I also received an update in GeForce Experience drivers, which led me to consider getting the Zephyrus G14. However, many reviews didn't mention these problems. Should I visit the shop for a replacement, or are there other options since the FPS was decent before? Thanks for your advice and any suggestions you have for GeForce.
I believe the issue lies with my machine itself. I observed that the turbo setting occasionally restores frame rates but only sporadically. Fps tends to drop randomly every five minutes for about a minute before returning to normal. This has been frustrating while playing games on this powerful device. I've tried adjusting the CPU voltage and none of it worked. It's become a constant annoyance. If you have any ideas or fixes, please share them.
Start the test by running ThrottleStop and enable the log file feature. Run a game for at least 15 minutes to capture relevant data during these throttling sessions. Once testing is complete, close ThrottleStop to finalize the log file. The file should be saved in your ThrottleStop / Logs directory. Include a log file with screenshots of ThrottleStop to help you understand your CPU configuration.
