Hi there, I’m experiencing some persistent issues with my PC that have become more serious over time. The problem started after the machine was left in sleep mode, and then my wife decided to turn it off at the mains. After that, it wouldn’t boot and required several attempts to reset before it would start again. Once it was running normally, everything worked perfectly—no gaming glitches or crashes, just a smooth shutdown.

Later, my wife managed to force the reset button into the case, which meant I had to hold the power button for a few seconds to turn it on or off. This method worked for about a week, but now it doesn’t work at all. There are no beep codes or display signals.

I’ve changed memory slots and installed new RAM, but nothing has helped. The onboard graphics still don’t show anything. I’m trying to ignore this because the CPU doesn’t have built-in graphics.

I reset the CMOS, but only get beep codes when I completely remove memory or disconnect the power from the graphics card. My suspicion is pointing toward the power supply unit. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

PC Specifications:
- Motherboard: ASRock B450M Fatal1ty K4
- CPU: Ryzen 7 5700X3D
- GPU: Radeon RX 6600
- RAM: 2 x 8GB DDR4 CMK16GX4M2B3000C15 at 3000 and 2 x 16GB same at 3200
- SSD: Drevo X1 Pro
- HDD: Seagate ST2000DM008
- PSU: Corsair CV550
- OS: Windows 11 Professional 64-bit

The issue seems to be caused by the reset button being pressed inside the case, making it necessary to hold the power button for a short time to start up. You should have unplugged the reset switch and connected it to the motherboard's front panel header. I've changed the memory slots and installed new RAM without success.

The motherboard model is an ASRock B450m fatal1ty K4. The RAM should be seated in slots A2 and B2, but the onboard graphics are still not displaying.

My CPU is a Ryzen 7 5700x3d. It doesn't have an integrated GPU, so connecting any display output port to the motherboard won't produce a screen without a separate GPU. The power supply unit is a Corsair CV550.

I suspect the problem might be with the power supply. It would be wise to obtain a high-quality 650W PSU and test if it can get the system running. If the BIOS on the motherboard is corrupted, you may need a BIOS programmer like CH341A to recover or re-flash it. If that doesn't work, consider replacing the motherboard. The CV550 unit appears to be of poor quality, possibly a rebadged version.

If the BIOS issue is confirmed, investing in a motherboard with BIOS recovery features (such as Q-Flash Plus, BIOS FlashBack, or Flash BIOS) would be beneficial for restoring the system without extra tools.

PSU serves as a solid beginning, but eliminating the need for a free change would involve taking out the reset button jumper from your motherboard front panel connector point—the spot where the HDD, power switch, and reset are attached. This action will eliminate the faulty button.
I think the issue lies with the motherboard detecting the button press. If this doesn’t resolve the problem, consider replacing parts.

The process of turning off power during sleep mode might affect other components.

Sorry, I didn’t convey it well enough. The button was actually pushed into the case, though it doesn’t appear depressed.

I attempted to boot today and the CPU and graphics fans didn't start up during the initial attempt. Additionally, my USB keyboard and mouse aren't working now, suggesting a possible power issue with the PSU.

Is there a multimeter available?
Ensure the power supply is functioning.
Attach the ATX connector and CPU power connectors to the motherboard.
Connect the front panel switch.
Remove the GPU, hard drives, etc., and confirm which drive is connected.
Refer to the pinout diagram at the provided link.
Power up the motherboard and use a multimeter to check the voltages mentioned.
Does your motherboard display indicator lights? Not all do, and it can be tricky (Aorus B550 Elite AX v2).
What do the lights indicate?

There are no lights on the motherboard, unfortunately. I'm planning to borrow a PSU to see if that's the problem. I'll also attempt to use my multimeter for testing.

Finally got around to checking the power supply and on the 24 pin connector everything is fine in terms of voltage.
Still no cpu fan or graphics card fan spin up on attempt to start so my thoughts now turn to maybe a motherboard issue.
Any thoughts
Thanks

The 3.3v, -12v, +5v, +12v settings are acceptable. The voltage on PWR_OK when the power button is both on and off remains consistent.
