He has raised a solid observation. It’s possible Windows is the culprit. My recent reading over the past year indicates many users struggle with WiFi on Windows 10, which makes sense. You might want to try disconnecting and reconnecting the network card, or simply discard the drivers and reinstall the OS. If that fails, it could point to a hardware problem.

Windows and Wi-Fi function perfectly after launching Ubuntu. The main concern now is the unexpected shutdown of my backlight. I’m getting paid tonight, so I’m hoping everything works out.

You might have asked for assistance and checked if it falls under warranty, but opening it likely ended that. Look up your laptop’s model and search for a replacement Wi-Fi card; try installing one inside to test. If the antenna works, the hinges could be faulty—consider a repair service or DIY fixes. They’re available for around 15 dollars on Newegg LINK: https://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.a...A7W53E0131

It was entirely a driver problem. After fixing my display, a free sketchy VPN client (Psiphon) started up and everything functioned again. Turning it off confirmed the issue was resolved. It wasn’t the solution I hoped for, but it worked when it did. I only use it to access Reddit on school Wi-Fi.
