Earlier this morning I installed an additional GPU into my computer. At the time I didn’t realize it was still running. There’s a small spark near where the GPU connected, and now everything seems faulty. Nothing powers on, no electricity signals detected. I changed the motherboard but got nothing. I did notice a weak humming sound from the power supply unit, so I replaced that too. Still nothing. I’m really stuck, anyone have any suggestions? Parts list included: AMD Ryzen 5 4500, Enermax LIQmax III 120 RGB AIO, AMD Radeon 5700 XT, old motherboard ASUS ROG Strix B550-F Gaming Wi-Fi II, new motherboard ASRock X470 SLA/AC, former PSU EVGA SuperNova 550 G2, new PSU Corsair CX450M. The newer components I swapped in were likely the ones that failed, and they’ve been sitting unused for around six months if that helps.
You've swapped the motherboard and power supply without any improvement, which suggests the PSU and board might still be intact or something else was damaged too. The next step should focus on testing a different CPU and GPU on the new board.
The issue isn't likely linked to the GPU. I can see you noticed no video output, which suggests another factor might be at play.
We understand you already have a second GPU, which means we can safely rule it out as the issue.
Yes, both versions are modular. You swapped all the modular cables during the replacement.
