I own a PC equipped with a Ryzen 7 2700x processor, 16GB Corsair Vengeance 3000 RAM, an 1070 founder's edition graphics card, and a WD 1TB SSD as my primary storage drive. For roughly four months, everything ran smoothly until I began experiencing strange crashing problems. When launching a game, the game launcher disappears after the initial start, causing the PC to freeze. The desktop remains visible but the mouse continues to move. Even when I press Ctrl+Alt+Del, nothing happens; the computer freezes completely. This issue only occurs during game launches—first with Modern Warfare 2019, then with Overwatch, Steam, Riot, EA games, and eventually all titles except Warzone 2.0, Rocket League, and others. I’ve reinstalled drivers via DDU and completely wiped the OS without saving files. I’ve also run stress tests using Cinebench and FurMark, and performed MemTest86 with no errors detected. I’m stuck and need advice on what to do next. Thanks for your time.

Recent updates and latest chipset drivers are available from AMD. For your system, consider the recommended motherboard and PSU based on your needs.

You should obtain the chipset drivers directly from the AMD website. Check your motherboard details—B450 MSI Tomahawk—and confirm your PSU specs before proceeding.

From AMD's site, the relevant page is https://www.amd.com/en/support/chipsets/...t-am4/x570. The same driver applies to both AM4 and AM5 boards, so you're not concerned about the chipset version in that link. If you didn't download from AMD, you might be missing the newest updates. Also, verify your BIOS is at version 22H2. Have you updated other drivers, perhaps using an IOBit driver booster?

I’m downloading the chipset driver now. Current version is 3.10, Windows is up to date, and I’ll look into the IOBit driver booster.

Additionally, Zen+ doesn't accommodate RAM speeds beyond 2933mhz and tends to be strict. A value near 3000 could contribute to problems. Consider using a lower XMP profile or manually adjust the speed to 2666 or 2933.

It's understandable you were expecting a different RAM limit, but the problem seems unrelated to your settings. I'll investigate further since things have changed recently.

It would be great to replace the 2700X with options such as 5600, 5700X or 5800x3d.

I upgraded my chipset and installed the IODBit driver booster. The BIOS is current, yet the problem persists.

The plan was set once I received the money. The machine was handed over since it was overheating, but it turned out the CPU mount was damaged. I replaced the cooler, and it works fine for my science school assignments.
