The charger and battery are functioning, yet your laptop fails to charge.
I own a Dell Inspiron 15 3537 with these specifications: 16g DDR3 250gb SSD, freshly installed Windows 10 I5-4200U. Recently replaced the battery with a 40% charge. The laptop operated only on the battery for some time until it hit around 20% and I connected it to power. Once plugged in, the battery stopped draining but didn’t charge properly. It also works fine when using the charging cable without the battery attached. If anyone has suggestions on what could be wrong, I’d really appreciate it.
You're asking about a damaged power module inside the laptop. It sounds like the component inside isn't working properly, which could cause the battery to not charge correctly or stay at a low level even when powered on.
The battery I just purchased is recognized, yet oddly it shows as unknown when I switch to the old one. It triggers a warning stating it can't identify the power source. I'm fairly sure the charging port is the problem, and I'll keep you updated on my findings. Thank you for your patience and assistance.
