The 8-pin 12V CPU connector is generating excessive heat.
Hello TH.,
Right now I'm dealing with a very hot 8pin 12V connector cable from my PSU, which caused damage to my old motherboard (GA 990 XA UD3 Rev3.0). I've switched to an ASUS M5A97 R2.0 PSU and it's working better. Could you help me figure out what to do?
The connector overheated due to excessive resistance, which caused it to become hot. Swapping just the motherboard side might not resolve the issue, but replacing both sides will definitely help. If your warranty is gone, remove a good EPS12v plug from one of your dead power supplies and connect it to the CM. This will allow safe use until you obtain a better power supply.
It's a really bad cooler master power supply, the only decent ones are the V series.
I have an old 750W Thermaltake PSU, I don't remember the model—it was damaged, and the other one with 550W exploded. I think the transistor or capacitor is faulty. My old motherboard's 8-pin connector melted because of the PSU. I don't want more problems. Please help me.

You should invest in a top-tier PSU to safeguard your components.
I don’t have a lot of money these days, but I don’t want to waste it all.
I currently have these parts:
ASUS M5A97 R2.0
AMD FX-6300
ASUS GTX660 TI DIRECT CU-II
Is this PSU sufficient for me?
