It seems this occurred a few weeks back. It makes sense since stocks drop, they might be rushing to secure whatever they can before they’re gone. A bit confusing, though. If you hold off until the 4000 series release, that could work.
When prices drop, folks are likely grabbing them for upcoming upgrades with fresh GPUs.

the amount of people i see on forums using them on a b550/x570 waiting for zen 3 is significant, they'll also sell when zen 3 is actually released, it's then u'll have perfect info to make your decision.
Previously things didn’t look promising. A massive increase in PC builders has created strong demand, and the 3600 offers a nearly ideal processor for many scenarios. Right now, AMD seems focused on moving production to Zen 3, and given both chips use the same 7nm process, availability of Zen 2 will likely drop, especially with TSMC facing tight constraints. I wouldn’t be surprised if the 3000 series disappears entirely, though AMD might still produce some Zen+ variants. Because these chips are made on separate fabs, it would be easier to keep manufacturing them.
