Upgrading the RAM might improve performance, but it doesn't directly affect texture streaming.

Streaming speed is mostly influenced by your storage capabilities.

A slower HDD can lead to texture and distant object stuttering. @Coltonw023456 experiences this often, especially in games like GTA V, with a 5900rpm drive.

Often streaming platforms prioritize lightweight performance, delivering only essential content to prevent delays and interruptions during navigation. I remember the last instance when a system struggled to launch Oblivion with minimal hardware requirements.

If you purchased a 120GB SSD specifically for GTA 5, it would likely improve loading times compared to using a standard storage drive.

Agreed. But be aware that the rest of your setup isn't optimal, which could lead to further slowdowns.

Usually I achieve around 40-20 frames per second, but a USB 3 flash drive can serve as an affordable SSD alternative.

Essentially no, that won’t work. In reality, it’s probably worse than a failing hard drive. To improve performance, you must have USB 3.0 enabled—otherwise your desktop would need an add-on—and both devices should support UAS, which makes sense since an internal SSD is worth the investment given how much you’re spending.

I also have an issue with GTA 5, it stutters when loading textures. Will a SSD help? On the mountain highway, I can reach 40 FPS once everything is loaded.

It can assist, though it might not fully address your issue since the rest of your setup isn’t optimized for running the game.
