I encountered a strange issue with my laptop after playing League of Legends for a while. When loading a champion or map, the game froze except mine. I tried closing tasks in Task Manager but it didn’t shut down. In Task Manager’s process bar, I attempted to end the League of Legends.exe process, but it failed. Clicking the end process option ended related processes, but League of Legends.exe remained active. The machine overheated while this process couldn’t be terminated, and the fan made a loud noise as if something was about to explode. Eventually, I powered off the computer by pressing a button. After restarting, I noticed a blue screen of death appeared. What’s happening?

As an admin, I would perform a comprehensive virus and malware scan.

Download the Kaspersky Rescue CD, burn it onto a CD or insert it into a flash drive and start from it. Update the software and perform a comprehensive system scan covering all areas. Next, execute a memory integrity test, run a hard drive error check, and attempt to update your device drivers and BIOS settings.

You manage the account and own security essentials along with Kaspersky. I've run several scans using both a standard Kaspersky and my own setup.

Also consider these additional points. Checking your laptop's temperature can help prevent overheating.

I've checked updating all drivers and contacted Asus support. What is MemTest? I’ve experienced an HDD problem before, and the PC seems to overheat now—fan noise is louder than a new desktop when I turn it on.

memtest is a downloadable program that can be written to a storage device. It helps check for issues in your system memory. I’d suggest cleaning the fans and, if your warranty isn’t valid, consider changing the thermal paste. If you’ve experienced problems with an HDD for some time, it might have been better to contact Asus immediately.

i reported the hdd issue and described the sequence of events. the computer malfunctioned while playing minecraft, and after an incident involving the headset and falling, it recovered some data using a sata to usb adapter. support suggested either a full recovery or factory reset. regarding dusting a laptop, using airspray on the intake might help temporarily but isn't a long-term solution.

Clean a laptop by spraying compressed air through its vents to remove dust. Be careful not to cause the fans to spin excessively.
