Hey there, I’ve got a Ryzen 9 5900X with the Corsair Elite Capellix H150i cooler installed. I assembled the system about three days back and everything seems to be running smoothly. I updated the BIOS to the latest release and checked the info—CPU temps are consistently over 90°F at idle, while the coolant stays around 80-90°F. I’m using a push configuration for the fans with the radiator on top, but I’m not sure what adjustments would really help lower those numbers. After cleaning the pump and CPU, I reapplied thermal paste and tightened everything well, yet the temps stay high. A friend suggested my pump might be faulty, but I’m not sure how to confirm or if there’s another issue. Any advice would be great! (Pump connected to AIO_PUMP) – Corsair RMA 850 PSU, ASUS Prime X570 PRO board, 32GB Trident Z Royal, planning on getting a 3080 or 3090, currently using an RX550 with a 5000X case.
It seems the fan curve was adjusted after the BIOS release. Make sure the curves are set higher than 600 RPM to avoid overheating from the AIO. Checking them again might improve your cooling performance.
You mention having a 5000X setup. The goal is to have fronts entering, tops going out, and rear pushing out. I'm running six 120s and a Scythe Mugen 5 with a 5900X in a 4000X configuration. Everything stays within the limits.
90F works well in idle mode, actually performing nicely. The high temperatures that pose risks on a 5900X exceed 90C, while 90F stays near 35C—well below the 40C I’d anticipate for a Ryzen processor during idle. By the way, using Celsius for temperature readings on PCs is standard, but it adds extra confusion since people often assume Fahrenheit without clarification.
