Hello, I recently upgraded my CPU from a 2600x to a 5800x. I notice I reach 90 degrees quickly during regular games and exceed 80 at 40% load. I've adjusted the BIOS settings but haven't found a solution. The lowest temperature on the 7800x is 34°C, which I've managed to hit. At idle, it stays between 34-40°C with power usage of 30-40 watts. When loading different games or varying the load percentage, the temperature climbs to around 83°C, which feels quite high for me. I'm aware the maximum run temperature is 90°C, but it still seems unusual. I just received an MSI MAG CoreLiquid 360R V2 water cooler yesterday after installing the new CPU. It provides a top temperature of 43°C at full load and 23°C at idle. I'm wondering if anyone has BIOS configurations I can follow. Svive Luna X750 W Midi Tower (6x intake fans, 1x exhaust), RTX 2080 8GB, Triplefan AMD Ryzen 7 5800X, Corsair CX750M, 750W PSU, Asus RogStrix B450F-Gaming, Intel 660P 512GB M.2 SSD, Corsair Vengeance 2666mhz. The thermal paste I'm using is Corsair XTM50. This machine is from late 2018 and is starting to show signs of wear. I also have extra storage space. The image is in Norwegian. You're dealing with a faulty AIO. You'll likely need a replacement or source a used one from NZXT. Consider adjusting your fan configuration—switching to three exhaust fans instead of one exhaust fan might be better. This temperature problem with MSI AIOs is common.
I'm seeing those temperatures with the 360mm AIO setup. I need to upgrade the case fans soon because one stopped working. In reality, it's a 5 intake, 1 exhaust setup. The GPU runs at 50-60 degrees during ultra gaming sessions like in PUGB, but the CPU is the only component getting too hot.
This unit is brand new and appears to be free of defects. It will display on the bios screen when ready.
I've watched videos showing MSI Aios running very hot even when brand new or only a few months old. Trying different fan arrangements might help improve cooling, otherwise the unit could be faulty. For better airflow, consider rearranging the fan layout.
5800X offers two variants. The newer model runs much cooler at lower voltages. But every unit will reach 90°C unless you adjust PBO2 manually. If you need system monitoring, avoid using low-quality tools like realtemp. Just check temperatures, voltage clocks, and fan speeds with hwinfo.
The 5800X was placed an order a week back, but I’m still unsure which applications to install or avoid.
