I've boosted my Intel 6700K to 4.6GHz and it's running smoothly in Windows. During heavy workloads, the fans kick in naturally. I tested Prime95 and AI Suite, which reported CPU temperatures around 78°C. The HW monitor indicates up to 97°C (see attached). That's quite high, but I'd appreciate your thoughts. I'm using the H100i water cooler.
Are you referring to the CPU core and cache voltage? It's 1.344 volts.
What's your preference? I'd say 80-90 max, which might be a bit high. If you own a top-tier cooler, it's worth thinking about upgrading.
This cooler: http://www.corsair.com/en-us/hydro-serie...cpu-cooler Not a fan of overclocking, just someone aiming for maximum performance in photo/video editing. I don’t do delidding.
Under 85 is acceptable, above 85 is too high. Make sure the fan is running at your VRM, using an aio cooler reduces airflow on the VRM. Also, you don't need 1.4v for 4.6.
