I've boosted my Intel 6700K to 4.6GHz and it's running smoothly in Windows. During heavy workloads, the fans kick in naturally. I tested Prime95 and AI Suite, which reported CPU temperatures around 78°C. The HW monitor indicates up to 97°C (see attached). That's quite high, but I'd appreciate your thoughts. I'm using the H100i water cooler.

At idle, the temperatures in the AI suite typically stay below 40°C.

Are you referring to the CPU core and cache voltage? It's 1.344 volts.

I lowered it to 4.2GHz and AI Suite indicated 70°C under full load, while the hardware monitor showed up to 80°C.

What's your preference? I'd say 80-90 max, which might be a bit high. If you own a top-tier cooler, it's worth thinking about upgrading.

This cooler: http://www.corsair.com/en-us/hydro-serie...cpu-cooler Not a fan of overclocking, just someone aiming for maximum performance in photo/video editing. I don’t do delidding.

Under 85 is acceptable, above 85 is too high. Make sure the fan is running at your VRM, using an aio cooler reduces airflow on the VRM. Also, you don't need 1.4v for 4.6.

It seems BIOS defaults are set correctly, but temperatures remain high. Prime95 still shows low temps despite full fan speed. Fans appear to be connected and running, water pump is active. Changing the cooler connection didn't help. Any suggestions?

It would be wise to apply a generous amount of thermal paste for this particular cooler since it frequently struggles to remove heat from the CPU.
