Hi Everyone I just installed a new system using a TUF 4090 and am facing some problems. Under light usage everything works perfectly, hitting the advertised speeds and running smoothly. Problems appear when the GPU is stressed, like launching a game or doing a stress test. Then the clock speeds drop sharply and freeze at around 210 MHz before the system crashes completely—usually within 30 seconds to a couple of minutes. I suspect the power delivery unit is limiting performance, as the card only handles about 85 Watts under load. I've checked connections to the PSU, card, and cables (four 8-pin PCIe cables), but nothing has improved. I'm not sure what to do next, any advice would be really helpful.

Check for power problems first. If everything is connected properly, the PSU might be faulty. What could be the cause?

Is the Asus Thor 1200P possibly faulty, or is the power supply unit the real issue?

Sure, I can attempt to use a different GPU.

It seems the system draws a significant amount of power even with basic components, indicating a potential power problem. Consider switching to a different PCIe slot and using an alternative power splitter if needed.

Unfortunately, I've already decided against the previous GPU I considered.

It sounds confusing to fix since both the power supply and graphics card are brand new. I’m planning to check the cable first. Could this issue stem from a damaged GPU, or would the card stop working entirely if it were faulty?

The GPU usually stops working immediately. Have you cleaned and wiped your drivers (using DDU)? Also, does this issue appear only during a stress test or also when running a light game like Minecraft or Roblox?

What are your complete system details? Is a riser cable included?

I haven’t tried a lighter version yet, so I might give it a shot. It’s odd that it doesn’t increase power regardless of my adjustments.
