System stops operating when temperature reaches 70°C
Hey! I've dealt with a similar issue before. I swapped my CPU from a Ryzen 1600A to a Ryzen 5600 but it didn't change anything. My computer still shuts down when the temperature hits around 70°C, and now I can't even open Windows because it just powers off. MOBO: Asus Prime B450M-A RAM: Goodram 2x8GB 2666MHz GPU: RTX3060 PSU: Seasonic 850+ Gold I also looked into the voltages—it looks like the expensive PSU might be the issue. (I got it a month ago) 12V rail: 11.98V, 5V rail: 4.95V, 3.3V rail: 3.3V
What cooler are you using? Did you apply thermal paste and tighten everything properly? Did you take off the plastic sticker? I’m thinking it probably reaches around 70°C, but it climbs very quickly and you don’t notice anything beyond that. That temperature is typical for a CPU, so it shouldn’t shut down, and the voltages look fine. Are you intentionally overclocking?
The name sounds similar to "bad RAM," but it doesn’t clarify why the system shuts down even when it isn’t overheating. Have you upgraded your BIOS to the newest version and then reset the CMOS?
Unfortunately I have the stock cooler, I applied thermal paste, everything is fine.
This board is quite subpar, but swapping it wouldn’t cause any harm.
You're considering the A520M DS3H, that's a classic model. Let me check if it's something you should be confident about.
