System is experiencing instability due to default CPU configurations.
Hey there, I've struggled to play any games for over five minutes. My PC restarts even when temperatures stay between 60° and 70°. I think the CPU might be the issue, since I've checked the GPU, RAM, and they're functioning normally without crashes or errors. During Prime95 blending tests, it crashes after about 20 minutes of CPU throttling to 90°-100°. I also get a warning event at 18 in the white logger. I've updated my BIOS to the latest version, and my GPU drivers are current. I haven't performed any overclocking or changed BIOS settings beyond adjusting fan speed and RAM frequency to 3200mhz. I've reset the CMOS and applied the default optimized configuration. Here are the build details: https://pcpartpicker.com/list/YM78zf
The RAM listed on your parts list hasn't been verified for your specific board, so it might not work properly. Ryzen processors are quite particular, particularly when you try to overclock the RAM—XMP is essentially handling that. If your BIOS already has XMP enabled, consider disabling it and retesting.
I attempted to power it down, but no matter the mode I selected (D.O.C.P.1, auto, manual), it kept restarting during idle or gaming, even at 2133mhz as the BIOS suggests.
It might still depend on whether the RAM isn't fully seated for this board. If possible, replace it with a model that was seated properly—you can check the support page for ASUS listings related to this board.
Adjusting the frequency manually can cause problems. Setting DOCP alters timing, voltage, and frequency, all of which must shift to stay stable. However, if you're facing an issue at 2133 with all default configurations, have you attempted running just one stick? Test both sticks at various times and slots. If it doesn’t resolve, consider reinserting the CPUZ as well.
I've been using Prime95 for nearly ten hours without it restarting. I allowed the BIOS to choose the RAM speed with the AUTO option, and it settled on 2133MHz. It's disappointing that it ran so low, but I'm hoping to increase it slightly if possible. At least I understand this is likely a compatibility problem rather than a hardware fault. It's a bit contentious to keep Prime95 running for extended periods or too short, but I'm planning to let it run overnight now.
