Motherboard model: ASROCK B450M PRO4 BIOS Version: P3.50 GPU: Gigabyte 3060 CPU: Ryzen 5 1600 PSU: 550 watt Windows 10 64bit RAM: 16GB I recently purchased a Crucial P3 2TB Internal SSD PCIe Gen 3.0 NVMe but it isn't functioning. Attempts made: - disconnecting all other drives - disabling secure boot - turning off CSM (compatibility support module) - erasing CMOS - updating BIOS to 3.50 - using my laptop to install Windows on the drive (installed and ran) - inserting the drive in the bottom slot (not recognized in BIOS or Windows) (occurred before and after Windows on drive, before and after BIOS update) - inserting the drive in the top slot (freezes at boot logo) (occurred before and after Windows on drive, before and after BIOS update) - using my laptop's NVMe in top slot works. (Bottom slot doesn't.) Why does my Crucial freeze at boot, but others do not? And why does my laptop's NVMe work while mine doesn't?

The reason for using this old Bios isn't clear. It doesn't seem like a strong justification.

The latest models don't work well with my CPU. The only one with Summit Ridge support is 3.5, and all others warn against using that BIOS with a Summit Ridge CPU.

This could be why it doesn’t work well with your NVMe setup. Have you tried it on another system? Might the NVMe be defective?

According to the post, it functions on my laptop. My NVMe drive is compatible with this system. But the one I purchased doesn't work on my own machine

It seems you should think about NVMe or CPU compatibility.

I'm not sure about the exact meaning. You probably meant topics?

Consider upgrading the CPU and BIOS. This might work better with an NVMe drive. Alternatively, keep things as they are now without an NVMe, or look for an older NVMe model that fits.

I don’t have enough funds to upgrade my CPU, so I’ll skip the NVMe option. Thanks for your assistance!

The manual indicates the bottom M.2 slot is intended for SATA SSDs up to 6Gb/s. A quick check on Crucial's site confirms this compatibility. The NVMe support should also be available, along with the CPU and mainboard. My assumption is this setup works well for those components.
