Hello, I recently upgraded my RAM to Corsair VENGEANCE RGB PRO 32GB (2x16GB) DDR4 3600, along with the previous setup: a GIGABYTE Z390 AORUS PRO motherboard and an i7-9700K processor. After installing the new components, I accessed the BIOS, chose 'Profile 1' XMP at 3600MHz, and restarted my system. The PC booted up, ran a few programs, played a game, and even handled an EFT raid without issues. However, everything froze—images became static, fans spun wildly, and the headset, keyboard, or mouse disconnected. I rebooted, repeated the process, but it still crashed. Switching back to my original 16GB at 3000MHz with XMP settings worked better. It handled raids and stress tests smoothly. Now I’m stuck at 2666MHz, which seems stable, though I haven’t pushed the system hard enough to confirm. Research suggests that my current slots (1 & 3) might be limiting performance, possibly due to a motherboard specification that only supports up to 2133MHz. According to the manual, the DIMM channels are listed as Channel A: DDR4_A1, DDR4_A2 and Channel B: DDR4_B1, DDR4_B2. This hints they might be targeting slots 1 & 2 or 3 & 4, which could explain the issue. I’m hoping to fully utilize the 3600MHz potential. The BIOS confirmed the XMP setting at 1.39V, and there’s no other overclocking option available. Some CPU-Z data indicates the XMP profile might be misinterpreted, but I’m not sure if that’s the root cause.

Your PC specifications aren't listed here. Also, many AMD chips struggle with more than 3000-3200 MT/s RAM.

Check if a 32GB RAM package works when configured manually at 3200 MHz. Ensure the four modules operate together at 3600 MHz without overloading the CPU’s memory controller.

I'm not completely confident about sticking only at 3200. Should I tweak the voltage or timing settings then? I was using Profile 1 of XMP. Regarding the topology, I've seen some suggestions on Reddit and forums about it running better on 2&4 instead of 1&3—though I wanted a more experienced person to weigh in first.

I think there’s a RAM speed setting in Ai Tweaker or the Gigabyte equivalent that could help, but I’m not sure about other tweaks. @ShrimpBrime might have some useful tips.

I think starting with 2 plus 4 is the suggested option. Give it a shot and check if it resolves the issue.
