Struggling to update BIOS using the Flash Bios button with MSI MPG B550 Gaming Plus
Hello, I changed the motherboard and CPU from Gigabyte A320M-S2H to an MSI B550 Gaming Plus and swapped my Ryzen 5 2600X for a Ryzen 7 5700X3D. I'm attempting to flash the BIOS with a newer version since the current one doesn't support my CPU. I'm trying version 7C56v1H right now but also tried 7C56v1F, which is the first that supports Series 5000. The guides suggest formatting the USB to FAT32 MBR and renaming the BIOS file to MSI.ROM inside it, then inserting the USB into the BIOS slot and pressing the Flash button. It should take about five minutes, which I recorded as 5:48, and then the PC should power off automatically. However, mine doesn't shut down on its own. I'm not getting any output when I restart.
Insert the USB into the designated port and watch the lights indicate the status.
The USB is located in the port labeled BIOS, and the red light indicates it's working. I prepared the USB using GParted with FAT32 MBR.
I'm unfamiliar with FAT32 MBR. I've only used FAT32 before, and it functioned properly.
Sorry, I'm unclear. It's formatted for FAT32 with a MBR partition layout.
The LED flashes for five minutes, the 24-pin connector is attached. Power reaches the motherboard, causing the RGB board lights and case lights to illuminate. However, the system fails to start.
