I accidentally purchased a game for my sibling using my account. Now I understand that only one game can be played at a time, and I’m wondering how we can share playing simultaneously. We’re not using the same game, right? Does Steam family sharing help with this issue? Thanks, repliers.
It doesn't matter if someone is playing the game on your account; you can't use your own account. The opposite would result in your sibling being removed. This situation is unfortunate, but it's unavoidable. That's why I personally own games across all platforms (Steam, Origin, Uplay, GoG). If I want to share a game from my main Steam account, I can play other games instead.
Family sharing permits playing just one game simultaneously. Just two copies would resolve the issue
The game I just purchased is online, but my sibling's version isn't. If we're using the online or offline method, will the other player still be able to save their progress?
I can't provide that answer. It seems unclear how Steam handles cloud saves. Are they accessed during gameplay or kept updated automatically?
It varies by game. Some single-player titles like Skyrim store saves locally, then sync them later. If you close the game and restart immediately, you may notice a delay because the system needs to sync before launching again. This seems to be a feature specific to each game—some save automatically, while others require an online connection. I haven’t heard of this in any games I’ve played.
