Chris mentioned that problems usually appear only after the initial launch, mainly due to issues with CryEngine and Nvidia not keeping the engine or drivers updated. If you're looking for more details, I might need to investigate further. @Slick sounds like something worth checking out.

They didn't. Crytek renamed the engine to Lumberyard, yet it remains the same core. SC's adaptation is so altered now that it feels like a completely new system, though that's another matter.

if i'm not mistaken the Lumberyard engine is owned by amazon, not crytek. Did amazon acquire crytek?

Amazon officially claimed to have created Lumberyard with a license from Crytek. In reality, they simply provided Crytek with significant funding to prevent the company's collapse and now own both the project and its engine.
