I have the exact same problem with this board, with two Samsung 970 Evo 2tb drives not showing up in slots 2_2 and 2_3. Slot 2_1 and the two dimm expansion m2s working properly. Waiting for a solution from Asus support.... Edit: solution turned out to be a simple bios setting. Advanced - >on board drive configuration - > cpu pcie configuration mode. Select pciex 16_1 + m. 2_2 + m.2_3 After restart windows drive manager will find the new drives. Pci 16_1 will run in x8 instead of x16 from now on, due to lane sharing. Probably won't notice this in gpu performance, but still good te know.
I’m trying this because Asus hasn’t replied quickly. My ticket seems to have been directed to a level 2 tech, but I suspect the level 1 one might not have sent my email correctly. We’re both facing a language challenge with the Indian-sounding person on the other side. EDIT: Finally received a follow-up call today. As expected, the last tech had my email misspelled. Now the process is moving forward on the level 2 track, but I’m still considering other alternatives. I really dislike it when I pay for high-end gear only to deal with delays that prevent things from working.
Finally secured ample time off to talk with ASUS, only to discover that even with a 5950x I lack sufficient PCIe lanes for all three M.2 slots and full-speed GPU support. By proceeding, I’ll maintain all six SATA ports so my HDDs remain functional. I plan to use the earlier-successful M.2 add-on card, which will still outperform my current SATA SSD despite any speed drop. The only drawback is that the card covers part of my CPU cooler fan, though a Noctua D15 should handle it. Hope this helps Pete3wil and others.
