When pressing Dolby or Media Center buttons there is no response, yet play/pause functions work. This suggests the issue may be with the audio output or a specific button configuration. Check connections and try resetting the device if necessary.

Can you share the laptop's make and model?
Are you connecting an external keyboard or using the built-in one?
Which operating system are you operating on?
Is there a need for specific drivers or files to manage the feature buttons?

The Toshiba Qosmio X300 is running Windows 7. Some buttons are not functioning properly, while others work fine.

Have they ever been involved?
It seems there is a Dolby Control Center available for Windows Vista/7, located here, and you might consider reinstalling it.

It seems another user might be handling media keys. Look for related information about keyboard or media key management.
The official Dynabook & Toshiba support site offers assistance for the Qosmio X300 (PQX32A-04S00J).
support.dynabook.com
Consider these possible sources:
Toshiba/Dynabook service station,
Toshiba HW setup utility,
Synaptics driver,
Utility support driver,
Toshiba value added package.

Great news! It's typically one of the media packages that manages everything.
