Hello everyone.
I’m planning to assemble a new PC mainly for gaming at 1080p resolution. I won’t be using it for 2K or 4K content. My monitor is an Asus MG248q with a 144Hz refresh rate, which I adjust to 120Hz for performance reasons.
The components I have selected are:
- CPU: Ryzen 9 7900X
- Cooler: Noctua NH-D15 Chromax Black
- Motherboard: Gigabyte B650 Aorus Elite AX V2
- GPU: MSI RTX 4060 Ti 16GB Gaming X
- RAM: Kingston Fury Beast Black 2x32GB DDR5 6000MHz CL36
- PC Case: Be Quiet! Pure Base 500DX
- PSU: Corsair RM850x 850W 80 Plus Gold Fully Modular
- HDD: Seagate Firecuda 4TB 7200
Here are some queries I have for the experienced members of this forum:
- Will this cooler suit the Ryzen 9 7900X? I plan to run it in eco mode at 105W and don’t want a liquid cooler. If someone uses this CPU and cooler together, would it be helpful to see the temperatures during gaming and idle?
- Is the PSU sufficient for this setup (no overclocking planned)? Should I consider a higher wattage unit? Also, have some users reported fan noise issues with this PSU?
- Does the motherboard’s BIOS include the eco mode at 105W, or do I need to update it? Is this model suitable for my build?
- What kind of noise should I expect from the system? I’d like it to be quieter than a jet takeoff.
- Are there any compatibility concerns with these parts?
The cooler looks great, but there are other options available that offer comparable performance at a better price. Your case supports coolers up to 190mm tall, which should comfortably fit most models you're considering. It's hard to say for sure about the BIOS version on the motherboard until you try it yourself. Some people may suggest seeking RAM with reduced latency, like CL30 instead of CL36, but that's just a small variation. You might also want to check out G. Skill.
Do you require a 12-core configuration? The 7800X3D stands out as the top gaming CPU option. With a typical gaming power draw of 50-75W, this cooler will easily suffice. You won't be utilizing all cores during gameplay except for a handful of simulation games like City Skylines and various turn-based titles.
The 4060Ti isn't regarded as the most cost-effective GPU available, especially the 16GB model. Upgrading slightly to the genuine 16GB 7800XT would provide better performance compared to the RTX 4070 in terms of rasterization.
I concur that CL36 isn't the best choice. CL30 offers good value for money.
Are you considering only the hard drive for storage?
I haven't encountered any problems with the RM850x fan. The PSU seems excessive for this build, and the fan might not even activate.
Obtain a 7800x3d configuration. Avoid purchasing a 4060ti; it's a poor choice. Opt for a system with 32gb of DDR5 6000 CL30 RAM. This setup should include an SSD. Use this guide to assemble your build and share the export link. It will help in providing better recommendations.

I wanted to get a 4tb SSD but they are way too expensive and only 2TB is too small for me.
Also checked the Radeon 7800XT and it has like 35-45% if not more better performance than the rtx 4060Ti, so is the ASRock RX 7800 XT 16GB OC good in the temp and noise areas?
