This setup acts as a bridge between the WAN and LAN networks. The modem functions independently. Although the firmware uses OpenWRT, I can't alter it because I'm renting the router and may need to send it back to my ISP.

A software VPN works, but it doesn’t match the performance of setting it directly in the router interface.
