Solutions for VPN connectivity
Hello. I manage a home server that needs access on two separate networks. One is my local network where the server resides, and the other is a separate home network that’s completely isolated. I believe using a VPN is the optimal solution. I attempted to set up OpenVPN, but some batch files on Windows aren’t functioning properly. I’m now searching for a free VPN option that’s easy to configure, requires little router setup, and fully supports Windows for the server while also offering cross-platform access for clients—primarily Windows, with Android and iOS added would be ideal. What would be the best choice for me?
The available choices are OpenVpn or dedicated hardware, with most premium routers and NAS offering VPN capabilities.
I need the VPN for security and privacy reasons. Your setup involves using a home network with a router, a computer, and a smartphone, all connected to the internet.
You reside in two locations, with the server located in one of them. You require a VPN to allow your devices at the other home to connect to the server.
FTP could work, though I also have SMB shares available (they suggested using a VPN with those).
You're using a router that appears open source, and you're connecting your ADSL modem to it?
