Situation with Ryzen EDC!

Yesterday I adjusted the fan curve of my Ryzen 2600 Wraith cooler for quieter operation. The temperature spiked significantly, reaching about 82°C. Additionally, I’m experiencing an EDC issue since I’m mostly just watching videos—my CPU’s EDC stays high at 82%, 69%, etc. I changed the minimum processing threshold to 5% but it still doesn’t improve. What might be causing these problems? Also, could you recommend a suitable fan curve for the Ryzen Wraith Stealth?

I changed from the pre-mounted fan to an all-in-one unit because the boxed model wasn’t cooling the CPU properly, especially when it got very hot and made a loud noise like a wind turbine.

Performance declines further under identical workload = increased temperatures, which is expected. Is the processor interpreting the video data? This is typical when hardware acceleration isn't active, such as with GPU decoding disabled.

Have you refreshed and updated the thermal paste? Is the cooler positioned accurately? A lower-quality cooler could cause increased temperatures.

It's unusual for any video decoding process to cause such a high temperature rise.

I wasn't processing the data at that moment—I was playing, and the peak reached 82, which wasn't the situation two days prior with the same type of cooling curve.

I didn't remove the thermal paste from the CPU cooler or the CPU using alcohol, just cleaned it with a wipe. It worked because it broke into small pieces.

I wasn't trying to decode a video; I was just watching one on YouTube. Sometimes it stays cool, other times it spikes high during idle. I also wondered if leaving a bit without thermal paste affects my issue—since I applied paste and removed the cooler, I’m not sure if it helped or caused the problem. If another paste spreads, you might want to try it.
