I felt the same way initially, but once I started using it, I became really engaged. The editing features are easy to understand and will surely assist her in getting the best from her RAW images. Just let it go.
Picasa should also highlight ACDSEE at http://www.acdsee.com/en/products/acdsee-19, though it isn't free.
The self-contained edition is free of extra charges, though certain minor functionalities may require more time to integrate into the standalone release compared to the subscription version when Adobe issues updates. You can also purchase the Photographer suite for Photoshop and Lightroom CC at a reasonable monthly cost, with pricing varying by location.
My wife was chatting about this... Lol. If she were serious, I’d suggest Lightroom might be a better choice. Instead of staring at buttons and sliders for hours, she could watch tutorials and learn more effectively.
Picasa can handle RAW images, but you might need to check the app’s options for support. RAW files generally offer more editing flexibility compared to JPEGs. Using the RAW version is often recommended for better quality adjustments.
If the situation flipped and your partner was asking and you were the persistent one, I'd suggest letting her take you to the couch for a nap. You don’t need to figure out Lightroom yourself—just ask her to spend a week or two getting comfortable with it. If she’s not interested in watching tutorials, a book could be a good alternative.
RAW files contain raw image data captured directly from the camera sensor into the memory card with little or no processing by the in-camera system. This format preserves more detail, making it ideal for post-production editing. JPEG files, on the other hand, are processed images from the sensor before being stored on the card. View them as RAW files provide a complete set of raw materials for baking a cake, while JPEGs offer pre-mixed ingredients ready for use.
