I’m beginning my PC after a long break since June 2023 and it’s showing display problems. When I connect the main monitor through HDMI, it appears as a secondary screen. I’ve restarted it several times. No other devices are connected except the mouse, keyboard via USB, and the power cable. The HP M22f model is what I’m trying to link.

Certainly! I can elaborate on the process and clarify whether Windows identifies a primary monitor during setup.

The Windows 11 interface doesn't recognize the tabs you open as if they were on a main display, even though that's what you expect.

Press the Windows key while holding the Shift key, then use the left or right arrow keys to navigate. This switches the active window from the ghost view to the real display. It may require a few clicks of the arrow key, trying left a few times before switching to right.

Uses Windows shortcuts and arrow keys, pressing Alt and Shift just once moves the monitor.

It functions correctly now. Windows treats the fake primary as a second display, so switching your secondary to primary should work.

Have you experienced dual displays? Windows could still recognize it as present, even without a physical setup, if it was once the main screen.
