I don’t own one, but to obtain the new CPU I’ll have to purchase the updated motherboard that matches the new socket—it won’t be more affordable than what I’m evaluating. (z390)

It needs to be a quarter of the cost to justify its value. The 3600 pairs well with the i7 8700, just as I discussed. And the 3600 without the X is the option we suggest.

If you're looking for savings, consider the B450 + 3600 combo—it's more affordable than the 9600kf + z390 combo (unless your z390 is really bad and won't work well). Plus, you can run the 3600 without needing an extra cooler. Just opt for a single 3600 instead of a 3600x; each 3600 can be upgraded to 3600x speeds on the stock cooler.

It might be worth considering a 3600x model and upgrading its cooling system. The price gap in my region is around thirty dollars, and enhancing the overclocking capabilities could definitely improve gaming performance.
