I chose it at 13.30 Euros and upgraded to 8.1 Pro—it feels better! A new install is preferable, though you might need to reinstall some programs again. I think a fresh start is better since wiping and reinstalling often ends up the same.

Many people say wait for Windows 9, but that could cost you more than the current price.

Yes, it's worth it at 13 euros for six months. I think a discount on 9 would be good if I upgrade from version 8, similar to how Win8 was cheaper for those who had 7.

It seems the update process typically involves reinstalling software, but since I have my data stored on a hard drive while Windows runs on an SSD, it would just be a matter of reinstalling Steam and the core programs using their installers. I can back up my documents folder to avoid losing game saves. The main concern was whether I’d have a worse experience afterward.

Yeah 13 euros is pretty cheap, nobody is forcing you to upgrade to W9 right after. It depends what that money means to you, if you have a job and not too many expenses than it's fine to pay 13e even if you're going to replace it by W9 in a few months (you don't know that anyways), if you're on a tight budget then it's best to wait for W9 since your W7 is probably still fine. I personally would get it, W9 will probably be a lot more expensive than that and 8.1 is still a great OS, a decent upgrade compared to W7.

Windows 7 still works, but right now saving 13 euros feels pretty affordable. I have plenty of money saved up and no major costs on my list. I’m not pressured to upgrade right away. I might wait for a price drop—though dx12 won’t be available on Windows 7 anyway.

I would wait because I notice performance issues with Windows 8 and 8.1. It feels oddly sluggish when opening things that bother me, especially compared to Windows 7. I prefer Vista, but I'm sure no one else on this forum has reported similar problems on older hardware like an Atom.

It seemed like a low-quality broadcast, hard to pinpoint its origin. It fits the "we're stopping Windows 7 updates" narrative. A G2A link would likely be valid? From what I understand, yes — it's a reputable source.

It depends on how you adjust for Win 8.1. For me, the update felt good—everything ran smoother and looked better overall. I've noticed Win 8.1 consumes less RAM, which is helpful both generally and for certain games. I should check the G2A discussion though. Some users might have a less pleasant experience, but many attribute the new Metro UI to its large buttons and mouse wheel scrolling. The "charm" bar is also handy, letting you search apps quickly and save time. It seems similar to the search bar in the Start menu on Windows 7.

I’m not too worried about that since I’d easily remove it. My main focus is performance, and based on what others mentioned, it appears to be superior to Windows 7.

It could function, but the sellers aren't authorized Microsoft resellers which might raise legal concerns. I recommend sending a brief email to Microsoft Tech Support for a clear decision.
