Setting up the new system Configuring the latest platform Implementing the updated framework
I set up a new system in early November and have been working on fixing problems for over a month and a half. The components I currently have are: CPU 5900x, GPU rx 7900 xT, MTB Asus X570, RAM team Group 32 2GB, PSU Silverstone SX1000. Problems include: (past) CPU clock at 4600MHz, 1.14V, random black screens on desktop, crashes when launching GPU-heavy apps; system won’t restart or restarts without signs before crashing, only stays on briefly before background issues appear. (past) GTX 1650 installed as a placeholder, no issues. No problems now with rx 7900 xT, but stability is questionable—overclocking isn’t reliable, XMP settings don’t work, driver updates are unstable, and the graphics card driver gets removed after a crash. Audio through the GPU becomes crackly, and the system stays on after crashes. Frame rate is inconsistent and lags. I’ve upgraded the PSU to 1000W, swapped the GPU from 3090 to 1650, re-seated CPU, RAM, and GPU, updated BIOS/Windows, and reinstalled drivers except MSI Afterburner and others. Everything seems to be running stock now. I suspect the issue is with the PCI 4.0 cards—especially the MTB card, which behaves oddly compared to the PCI 3.0 1650. The CPU stability varies between cards, and it refuses to boot with overclocking. I’m stuck and need guidance; I have photos of the crashes while writing this thread.
Do you configure PCIe to version 3.0 in your BIOS? Using a 3.0 riser with 4.0 components often leads to problems.
Have you performed a new Windows installation? Have you also experimented with DDU in Windows Safe Mode?
Use DDU for troubleshooting. If the problem started before, consider these additional steps: https://www.howtogeek.com/howto/windows-...stem-files. It worked for an RX-580 upgraded to a 3060.
I'll attempt this next, then look at what the Display driver Uninstaller asks about creating a system restore.
Audio plays smoothly and clearly after setting it on PCI 3.0. I plan to run a benchmark to verify stability.
